OFC successfully conducted its Annual Fire Exercise on 25 September 2025, based on a simulated fire scenario at Jet A-1 storage tank TK-5, including one casualty found inside the tank diked area.
The exercise was carried out in cooperation with Athens International Airport (AIA) and involved the participation of the Airport Fire Service, Airport Environmental Department, Air Traffic Control, Ambulance Service, Hellenic Police, Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority and National Civil Protection. Fire Academy students also attended the exercise for training purposes, while OFC staff and visitors from the Oil Industry, Airlines and Ground Handling Companies, observed the execution of the firefighting procedures.
The results confirmed that OFC, the Airport Emergency Services and all other Stakeholders were found to be well prepared to respond effectively and efficiently to a fuel facility fire emergency. It also provided the opportunity to test the coordination and communication between all participating parties under realistic conditions, contributing to the overall safety and emergency readiness of the Athens International Airport.

OFC Aviation Fuel Services S.A. (OFC) is the company initially awarded, in 1998 and re-awarded in 2022, by Athens International Airport, the development, operation and maintenance of the Airport’s JET A-1 Fuel Depot and Hydrant Refuelling System.
