This year's IFQP Seminar was hosted at OFC's Training Center from October 14 to 17, 2014 with the participation of 14 members of the international aviation community and more specifically: American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Air Serbia, Brussels Airlines, DELTA Airlines, DHL, Emirates, European Air Transport (EAT), HOP! Britair, Saudia Airlines, United and UPS.

The Trainers, Mr. Bert de Koning of KLM and Mr. Seth Dillon of Delta Airlines, co-operated closely with OFC's specialized team of trainers to provide a most complete training programme comprising both theoretical and practical sessions, such as fuel quality controls, safety fuelling procedures, maintenance of fuelling facilities and familiarization with the Checklist and procedures for Inspections.

On the closing day, all trainees passed the written examinations and were awarded with a Training Certificate.

    On May 11th, 2017, the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) organized via Athens Airport Company, a guided Airport Site Tour including a short visit to OFC facilities, being the centralized infrastructure for airport refueling. A group of 55 postgraduate students were guided through the facility and were briefed on OFC operations by OFC Operations Manager.

    As per the cover letter signed by JIG’s Technical Manager: “Following the recent JIG inspection at OFC, the inspector recommended the award of a Certificate of Excellence for 2016. Based on historic JIG inspection records, OFC has merited an Excellent status every year since the introduction of the scheme which is a world-record.” Moreover,  JIG has extended congratulations to all at OFC “for sustaining an exceptional performance and a high level of operations in the receipt of aviation Jet fuel from the pipeline, storage at the airport depot and hydrant system over a long term.”

    In April 2016, OFC successfully hosted the 2nd “Training to Inspect to JIG Standards” Course in Athens, organized by JIG for Members only. The aim of the course is to help JIG Members personnel to inspect airport operations to JIG Standards. This course, ‘Training to Inspect to JIG Standards’, has been developed for experienced Aviation Fuels Supervisors and/or Inspectors who wish to enhance their skills in this vital area. The course has been developed by JIG and its Operations Committee, and external consultants who have vast experience of inspecting operations globally.

    On March 29 2016, the Annual Emergency Fire Exercise took place at OFC with the participation of all responding parties i.e. Athens International Airport (AIA), AIA Fire Department, HCAA, AIA Police Department, and AIA EKAV as per the detailed scenario that was jointly elaborated by the above mentioned bodies and was written by AIA. The exercise was also attended by the airport community representatives and state authorities.     TWO EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS by two Greek Vocational Schools

    Students of the Vocational Schools of Dafni and  Galatsi visited OFC on March 26 and April 29, 2015 respectively on scheduled educational field trips. The students of the Electronics and Electrical Engineers departments were escorted by their professors, were guided through OFC facility by specialized personnel. Their curriculum includes among other, the study of automation systems, PLCs, electrical motors and internal electrical installations. The visits were most fruitful and stimulating as they aid students' professional orientation and at the same time support the curriculum content.

      In May 2014, OFC - represented by Mr. Nikos Kontaxis (CEO) and Mr. Kyriakos Gennadis (Operations Manager) participated in the IATA Fuel Forum which took place in Dublin, Ireland. During the 3day Conference, OFC presented to the members of the international aviation community, the original Aviation Fuel Shortage Contingency Plan for Athens International Airport, which is in effect and which has been prepared and signed amongst the Athens Airport Company, the 2 Attica Refineries, the Fuel Suppliers and OFC.

      In March 2013 , OFC hosted a field trip of the Galatsi 1st EPAL (vocational school). 23 students accompanied by 4 members of the faculty visited OFC premises. The group is attending the program of the Electronics and Electrical Engineers and among others their curriculum includes the study of automation systems, systems of data collection and control and motor function and control. The field trip was particularly satisfactory as visits to highly skilled workplaces presenting modern technology complements and supports the curriculum content and helps students  in their professional orientation.

       The IATA Aviation Fuel Forum is the premier industry meeting for the world’s aviation fuel community. Being an IATA Strategic Partner, OFC participated in the event which took place in Bangkok, Thailand in November 6 – 8 2012. On November 6, OFC Operations Manager,  Mr. Kyriakos Gennadis made a presentation on “Traceability Scenarios in Direct Deliveries from Refinery to Airport” during the Technical Session of the programme.     Following the recent JIG international inspection at OFC's facilities the JIG Inspector assessed the overall standard as 'excellent'.
